Sandbach sewer works completed
07 May 2010
A £1m project to improve the reliability of Sandbach's sewer network has been completed by United Utilities.
The project, which involved the construction of a storage tank and new sewer pipes in land off Cooksmere Lane, was part of the Cheshire-based company's £2.9 billion water quality and environmental improvement programme for 2005-2010.
Jason Boyd, United Utilities' Project Co-ordinator, said: "The work we have carried out on the sewer network is designed to relieve flooding which has affected properties in the Cooksmere Lane area during heavy rainfall.
"Our construction team will soon be leaving the site, which we will make sure is left tidy and secure."
Plans are already in place for the team to return this autumn to carry out landscaping work.
"We understand that the area looks quite bare and open, but please be assured that we will be back during the autumn planting season when the conditions are at their best to ensure this work is successful," said Jason.
"We would like to thank people for their patience whilst this essential work was carried out.
"The improved sewer network is one which will meet the demands of today and the future."
