United Utilities' ongoing project to replace Warrington town centre's old water pipes with modern plastic ones will soon be moving on to Wilson Patten Street.
The Great Sankey-based company will begin work on the street - near the entrance of Warrington Bank Quay Train Station - on Saturday, May 15.
The work, which is expected to take up to seven weeks to complete, will progress towards Bridge Foot and will finish up on Mersey Street.
John Nock, United Utilities' Project Manager, said: "This phase of work is part of our ongoing commitment to revitalise Warrington's water supply.
"The old pipes we are replacing have done a great job serving the town taps for many years now, but in order to meet the growth and expansion of Warrington in years to come we need to replace the old pipes with new and stronger ones.
"These modern plastic pipes will improve water pressure, reduce the risk of leakage and strengthen the overall reliability of the network."
Due to the position of the existing water mains Wilson Patten Street will become one way for the seven-week working duration - with the flow of traffic heading from Bridge Foot towards the train station.
A diversion route will be put in place and clearly signposted.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
A flyer showing the diversion route map can be downloaded here.
"We have worked closely with Warrington Borough Council to carefully plan this work so that disruption will be kept to a minimum," added John.
"However we appreciate that roadworks are an inconvenience and that some disruption is unavoidable.
"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this essential work may cause and reassure people that the benefits at the end will be worth it.
"We are ensuring that Warrington's homes and businesses continue to have high-quality and reliable water supplies today and in the future."
