Sandy Lane water works should come in handy for Runcorn businesses

15 March 2010

Work to improve Runcorn businesses' water supplies will soon be under way.

From Monday, March 22 we will start laying approximately 2km of new plastic pipe from the outlet of Runcorn Service Reservoir at the junction of Highlands Road and Weston Road to an existing water main at the junction of Sandy Lane and Weston Road.

The £200,000 scheme is expected to take approximately three months to complete and is being carried out by Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions on our behalf.

Brian Jenkins, Project Co-ordinator, said: "This work, which will be split into three stages, is designed to reinforce the overall reliability of the network which serves industrial customers in the area.

"The new pipeline will ensure that local businesses continue to receive high-quality water supplies for many years to come."

In order for the pipeline to be laid safely two-way traffic lights will be put in place on Sandy Lane - an agreement which has been reached with Halton Council's highways department.

"We'd like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience our traffic management plan may cause," said Brian.

"We will do everything possible to keep disruption levels to a minimum."
