Ongoing work to improve Langley's water supply is flowing on.
Our five-month scheme - which started at the end of February - has seen engineers working to replace a water main that runs from Ridgegate Water Treatment Works to Hollins Service Reservoir.
The latest engineering techniques will be used to essentially thread a new plastic pipe through the old water main.
The technique - known as 'slip lining' - reduces the number of holes needed in roads and footpaths and allows work to run more efficiently and with less disruption.
Peter Cummings, project Liaison Engineer, said: "The work we're carrying out is designed to ensure we can continue to provide a high quality of water to customers in Langley for many more years to come.
The initial section of work in Langley Road will begin from Monday, March 15 and is expected to take approximately three weeks to complete.
The main works to 'slip line' the old water pipe will start in May.
In order for this initial section of work to be carried out safely temporary traffic lights will be put in place on Langley Road.
This will result in parking restrictions on the road.
"We understand that the temporary traffic lights will cause some temporary disruption to residents, but they are essential to the task in hand," added Peter.
"We have written to residents on Langley Road to make them aware of this section of work and we will do everything possible to keep disruption to a minimum.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this work may cause and we thank residents for their continued patience and understanding."
This scheme is part of our £2.9 billion water quality and environmental improvement programme for 2005-2010.
