Questions answered on Widnes sewer scheme
29 January 2010
United Utilities will soon be holding a meeting for residents to discuss a £2.1 million sewer improvement scheme in Widnes.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, February 4 from 6pm-7pm at the Birchfield Sports and Social Club on Tuson Drive.
Company representatives will be on-hand to answer any questions local residents and councillors may have about the scheme, which is designed to improve the reliability of the local sewer network and reduce the risk of sewer flooding to homes and gardens in the Linden Way, Tuson Drive, Linden Court and Julian Way areas during heavy rainfall.
Tony Clinton, United Utilities' Project Co-ordinator, said: "The meeting will give us the opportunity to provide information to residents regarding the forthcoming road closures to Linden Way and Tuson Drive - explaining the diversions and vehicle access arrangements.
We are looking forward to seeing people there and answering any questions they may have."
Work to construct a new below-ground storage tank in the land located at Birchfield Sports and Social Club is already under way and is anticipated to be completed by early summer this year with landscaping work to follow.
The scheme is part of United Utilities' £2.9 billion water quality and environmental improvement programme for 2005-2010.
