Night needed for Leyland sewer cleaning
19 January 2010
United Utilities engineers will soon be carrying out essential sewer cleaning work in Leyland Lane, Leyland.
The work, which is due to start this weekend (Sunday, January 24) and expected to be completed by Thursday, January 28 will need to be carried out over five consecutive nights due to the amount of traffic and parked cars on the highway during the daytime.
Matthew Heaton, a Network Performance Technician for United Utilities, said: "This essential work is needed in order to resolve a sewer flooding issue affecting properties on Leyland Lane.
"We need to carry out the work at night when the highway is clear of parked cars and traffic, but with this comes some temporary disruption which we would like to make local residents aware of in advance.
"There may be some disturbance in the area due to engine noise and flashing lights from our sewer cleaning vehicles.
"We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this work may cause and we would like to assure residents that we will do everything we can to keep disruption levels to a minimum."
The work on Leyland Lane will take place between the junctions of Dunkirk Lane and Schleswig Way.
