Kirkdale water works in full flow

05 November 2009

United Utilities' work to improve Kirkdale's water supply is now in full flow.

Engineers working on behalf of the water company will begin replacing old cast-iron water pipes with modern plastic ones along Scotland Road from Thursday, November 12.

The work, which is expected to take four weeks to complete, is designed to improve the overall reliability of the local water network and reduce the risk of leakage.

Due to the location of the existing water pipes a full lane closure on the inside lane of Scotland Road heading out of Liverpool will be in place for the duration of the works.

Henry Bennett, United Utilities' Project Engineer, said: "Once our work is completed we will return all affected areas to their previous condition.

"Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

"We would like to thank people in advance for their patience and understanding whilst this essential work is being carried out."

This work is part of United Utilities' £2.9 billion water quality and environmental improvement programme for 2005-2010.
