Lancashire lads Jon Horsfall and Graham Entwistle are facing the challenge of a lifetime as they gear up to clamber across the Glacial Parang La Pass near Tibet and climb the 20,000 foot Peak Pari Lungbi in aid of charity.
Jon, 38, and Graham, 49, both work for United Utilities, but in September they will be donning their crampons to raise money for well-known North West charity Derian House Children's Hospice.
"We have been inspired by the hard work of lots of others at United Utilities who have raised funds as part of the Changing Lives Challenge," said Jon, who lives in Chipping near Clitheroe.
"The hardest part of the climb won't be the altitude but spending two weeks in the confines of a small tent with Graham's feet!"
Jon and Graham, who lives in Colne, have been training hard up in the Lake District and down the gym to make sure they are physically and mentally prepared for the hardship they will experience undertaking a challenging climb at such high altitude.
The hard work will all be worthwhile for the two who just want to to raise as much as possible for Derian House.
"Derian House is a fantastic cause and is almost entirely reliant on donations," said Jon.
"People have been very generous and I hope other people and businesses will give what they can," he added.
