Water firm United Utilities is putting a former pumping station situated in Southport up for sale.
The attractive building, which is set within an established residential area with views over open fields to the rear, comes complete with planning permission to convert it into a potentially stunning three-bedroom detached family home.
The property lies close to Liverpool Road and is approximately one-and-a-half miles southwest of Ainsdale town centre.
Living space includes approximately 650 square feet available to work with on the ground floor alone.
What's more the planning permission provides for the installation of first floor accommodation by raising the roof to provide 1,294 square feet of living space in total.
David Tyson, a property surveyor for United Utilities, said: "This is certainly one of our more unusual sales - and the potential to convert it into a welcoming family home within a friendly residential area is hugely exciting.
"This former pumping station has been disused by the company for several years due to surplus operation requirements and as such we'd like nothing more but to see it given a new lease of life by a committed buyer."
The property is on sale with Frank Harrington Associates with a guide price of approximately £85,000.
Offers are invited and to be received in writing at the offices of Frank Harrington Associates (6 Cross Street, Preston, PR1 3LT) no later than Tuesday, September 15 2009.
