Warrington flood prevention proposals in the pipeline

28 July 2009

United Utilities will soon be holding a public exhibition to outline proposals to prevent sewer flooding in the Great Sankey area of Warrington.

Representatives from the water company will be on-hand and happy to answer any questions local residents may have about the proposals, which are centred around building an underground storage tank within public open space adjacent to Mill Avenue and within Whittle Brook Linear Park (near to Belmont Crescent).

Further proposals also include increasing the size of existing sewers in Mill Avenue and Whittle Brook Linear Park to reduce the risk of the system becoming overwhelmed during heavy rainfall.

The public exhibition will be held at the Tim Parry Community Centre on Kintore Drive, Great Sankey on Tuesday, August 4 from 2pm-8pm.

A second exhibition will be held on Wednesday, August 13 at the same venue and location for those residents who cannot attend the first.
