Cutting leaks in Crewe: Latest news
23 July 2009
A United Utilities project to reduce water leakage in Crewe will enter its next phase next week.
The Cheshire-based company is working to replace an old trunk main between Acton Road and Lockitt Street as part of its £2.9 billion water quality and environmental improvement programme for 2005-2010.
Having completed work in Alton Street and Queens Park Drive, engineers will be moving on to Coppenhall Lane on Monday, July 27.
The work, which is expected to take up to two weeks to complete, is likely to result in restricted access for pedestrians and residents' vehicles.
Ian Grzelak, United Utilities' Project Manager, said: "We will do everything we can to maintain access for pedestrians and vehicles where possible, but we would like to advise customers in the local area in advance that some restrictions may be experienced.
"We do apologise for any temporary inconvenience this may cause."
Local residents are also advised to please be aware of bogus callers claiming to be working on the scheme as our engineers will not need to visit properties.
